Rave August 1966


Oh you lucky lucky people I'm really spoiling you, this is probably the best Rave cover ever & one of the best issues. Of course we have the fantabulous Steve Marriott & Ronnie Lane of The Small Faces on the front...



Here's a great pic & article of the mighty Action, fancy a trip to see them saturday night? Someone get me a time machine! 


This feature on how to turn Princess Anne into a mod is classic, she does look better with a bob doesn't she?!


And finally another We Don't Smoke ad, shamefully I missed this in my special post.

    That Princess Anne makeover is so much fun. I always though she was the best Royal bride and had the potential to look much better without that awful shredded wheat hair. x

    Great Post, It's nice to see the Action , they were a great band, shame they never got recognition they deserved, their version of 'I'll keep on holding on' is amazing.

    I'm hoping you'll have the September issue as it has these fantastic metallic crochet outfits people should see. My copy is a bit too fragile in that section to put through a scanner.

    LOOOVE the striped jacket on the front cover and that fabulous Princess Anne makeover - I wish someone would do a Kate Middleton makeover - she's so boring! I love these Rave reviews you do - thanks!

    This just in, "Anorak Thing" digs the hell out of Smashingbirds magazine collection and if he were not already committed to marriage would offer his hand on marriage, if only to secure joint ownership of these fine specimens of "Rave" magazine.

    That great front cover reminds me that around that time the Small Faces booked the dance hall in my mum and dad's pub for a week's rehearsal. As a small boy I didn't really know who they were but was curious enough to watch them at work through the keyhole! Steve Marriot wore a big straw hat and a long white (possibly cheesecloth!) shirt...
